Comments

Oman's 40th National Day in 2010 marked four decades since Sultan Qaboos bin Said seized power from his father in the 1970 palace coup and began the country's accelerated modernization. Commemorative issues of this kind from the Central Bank of Oman are produced in strictly controlled quantities, distributed largely through banking channels rather than general circulation, which keeps genuine used examples rare relative to uncirculated ones.

G&D's Leipzig facility has printed the bulk of Omani currency for decades, and the relationship shows in the consistency of paper quality across the commemorative series. The watermark security on this issue is notably light compared to contemporaneous Omani circulation notes.
