| Obverse description | Central device depicts a Chinthe, the mythical Burmese guardian lion-dragon, rendered in high relief in a rampant pose facing left, with elaborate decorative collar and curling tail. A five-pointed star appears to each side of the Chinthe at mid-field. The circular legend in Burmese script reads 'Union of Burma' along the upper periphery, flanked by the two stars, with the Burmese Era date inscribed in the lower exergue. |

| Reverse description | The denomination '၅၀ ပြား' (50 Pyas) is prominently displayed in two lines in Burmese script at the centre of the field. The central legend is framed on either side by symmetrical ornate floral and foliate sprays rendered in fine relief, forming an open wreath that fills the field. The Burmese script date appears in the lower exergue below the wreath. |
