Obverse description Central field features the denomination '٥٠' (50) in large Eastern Arabic numerals above the word 'پول' (Pul) in Arabic script, all enclosed within a raised circular border. The legend 'افغانستان' (Afghanistan) curves along the upper periphery, while the royal title and name 'المتوكل على الله محمد ظاهر شاه' (Mohammed Zahir Shah, He who trusts in God) runs in two arcing bands around the lower portion of the coin, flanking the central circle. The design is executed in a bold, raised relief typical of Afghan coinage of the mid-twentieth century.
