The Higher Nile Valley Authority for the Rescue of Palestine was one of several pan-Arab fundraising bodies that emerged in 1948 to finance military and humanitarian efforts during the Arab-Israeli War. This bond was not a banknote in any formal sense — it carried no central bank guarantee and was never legal tender. Its issuing authority had no governmental standing, operating instead as a semi-official relief and mobilization organ drawing support from Egyptian nationalist circles in the aftermath of the May 1948 Arab League intervention.

Fifty pounds was a substantial sum at the time, placing this instrument squarely in institutional or wealthy-donor territory rather than general public subscription.
