Additional information

Issued to mark the 25th wedding anniversary of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in November 1972, this was one of several commemorative gold pieces struck by British Crown Dependencies that year — Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man each produced their own versions, creating an unusual moment of parallel commemorative coinage across the Channel Islands. Jersey's issue was produced by the Royal Mint on behalf of the States.

The .917 fineness is standard 22-carat crown gold, the same alloy used for sovereigns since 1817.
