Obverse description The face is printed in blue on a pale guilloche underprint of repeated denomination numerals and the word POUNDS. The Commonwealth of Australia coat of arms appears in an oval vignette at top centre, flanked by ornate corner medallions each carrying the numeral 50. A crown vignette is positioned at lower left. The central text panel carries the bearer promise inscription in letterpress, with two manuscript signatures below attributed to the Assistant Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury.
