Obverse description Central design features a detailed architectural rendering of the Prophet's Mosque (Al-Masjid an-Nabawi) in Medina, depicted with its characteristic domed roof, minarets, and arched colonnades occupying the lower half of the field. Above the mosque, two ornate cartouches bear the Arabic names of Allah and Muhammad in stylized calligraphy, flanking a central vertical element. An Arabic inscription appears at the top of the field. The overall composition is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored prooflike field, framed by a finely reeded border.

Additional information

The 15th Hijri Century commemoration — marking 1400 AH, which fell in 1979–1980 CE — prompted a wave of issues across the Islamic world, and Sudan's contribution included proof and pattern strikes that never reached general circulation. "Prueba" denotes a trial or specimen piece, likely struck to test dies or secure approval before a production run that may itself have been limited or abandoned. Whether this example is silver or aluminium remains unresolved in the cataloging record, a distinction that matters considerably: aluminium pruebas were typically internal circulation tests, silver ones produced for presentation.
