Obverse description The obverse displays the Philippine national coat of arms at center, featuring a quartered shield bearing a golden sun with eight rays at upper center, three five-pointed stars arrayed across the chief, an eagle displayed at lower left, and a lion rampant at lower right. A scroll beneath the shield bears the motto legend ISANG BANSA ISANG DIWA. The circular field is bordered by a ring of beads, with the legend REPUBLIKA NG PILIPINAS arcing along the upper periphery and the denomination 50 PISO inscribed prominently along the lower periphery. Two five-pointed stars flank the denomination at the lower left and right, and the Franklin Mint mintmark FM appears on the coin.
