Comments

This note marks the canonization of Pedro Calungsod, declared a saint by Pope Benedict XVI on 21 October 2012 — only the second Filipino to be canonized, after Lorenzo Ruiz in 1987. The BSP issued this commemorative alongside the existing 50 Piso circulation series, though whether individual examples saw genuine commercial use or were set aside immediately upon receipt is the usual collector's dilemma with Philippine commemoratives of this period.

Printed in-house at the Security Plant Complex, the note carries no particularly unusual technical features for its class. The security thread and watermark are BSP standard issue for this denomination.
