Treptow an der Rega — now Trzebiatów in northwestern Poland — was a small Pomeranian market town whose municipal treasury issued this note during the acute small-change shortage that gripped Germany in the early Weimar period. The Reichsbank's inability to keep fractional coinage in circulation drove hundreds of municipalities to print their own Kleingeldersatz, and Hessenland in Stettin handled an enormous volume of this regional emergency paper.

Hessenland was one of the busier provincial printers of Pomeranian Notgeld, which means quality control was uneven across the run. Ink saturation and impression depth vary noticeably between surviving examples of this issue.
