Corbach — the older spelling of Korbach, administrative seat of Waldeck-Frankenberg — produced a notable quantity of Notgeld during the 1921–22 inflationary period, much of it with the kind of local-boosterism imagery typical of the collecting-driven "Serienscheine" market. This piece is different in origin: it was issued not by a municipal authority but by a sports club, Sport-Verein 09, which places it firmly in the narrower category of private association Notgeld. Such issues were technically tolerated during the emergency currency period but occupied uncertain legal ground.

Louis Koch of Halberstadt printed a wide range of small-denomination Notgeld for clients across central Germany during this period.
