Comments

Naunhof is a small Saxon town southeast of Leipzig, and this 1921 Notgeld piece was issued by its local Red Cross voluntary ambulance column — not a municipal authority, bank, or cooperative, but a voluntary first-aid organization funding itself through emergency scrip. That is unusual. Most Notgeld of this period came from town councils or commercial entities; a Sanitätskolonne issuing its own currency speaks to how severely the postwar inflation had disrupted even charitable operations.

The DeNG 2#929.1 reference places it firmly in the Sächsische Notgeld cataloguing sequence. Whether it circulated locally or was sold to collectors during the Notgeld collecting craze of 1921 is not documented for this specific issue.
