Belgard an der Persante — today Białogard in northwestern Poland — was a mid-sized Pomeranian town, and like hundreds of German municipalities during the First World War, its municipal savings bank issued Notgeld when small-denomination coinage vanished from circulation almost overnight after 1914. Flemming & Wiskott in Glogau were among the more active regional printers of this emergency scrip, supplying multiple Pomeranian issuers during the same period.

The Sparkasse der Stadt Belgard series is catalogued under DeNG 1#69.3, a relatively obscure reference even among Notgeld specialists.
