Obverse description Central design featuring the German Imperial eagle displayed, with wings spread and head turned to the right, bearing a large heraldic shield on its breast. The eagle is crowned with an imperial crown above. The entire motif is framed by a wreath of laurel and oak branches extending from the base and joining at the sides of the field. The mint mark 'D' appears in the exergue below the eagle. A beaded border encloses the design.
