Suhl's Magistrat issued this Notgeld piece as part of a deliberate collector series — the "Sights" issues were produced in coordinated sets with the explicit understanding that philatelists and Notgeld collectors, not merchants, would absorb most of the print run. Adolf Forker in Leipzig handled a substantial volume of municipal emergency currency during the inflationary period, and the production quality here reflects that commercial relationship rather than any pressing local monetary need.
K. Mundt's designer credit and the Hertwig signature are typical of the bureaucratic paper trail these series left behind. Suhl was a firearms manufacturing center, which makes the civic imagery angle an interesting editorial choice for a town whose economic identity was almost entirely industrial.
