Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a central rectangular vignette of a traditional half-timbered farmhouse (Bauernhof) in Altenbreitungen, rendered in fine coloured lithography with a clouded sky above. The denomination "50 Pf." is printed in large decorative numerals within yellow panels on both the left and right sides, flanked by geometric border ornaments in green and black. The word "NOTGELD" appears in large bold type at the upper left and upper right corners, with the year "1921" below each. A ribbon banner at the top reads "BAUERNHOF in ALTENBREITUNGEN", and a four-line verse in German Gothic script occupies the lower panel.

Comments

Altenbreitungen and Frauenbreitungen are two small Thuringian villages in the Werratal that issued this note jointly during the Notgeld fever of 1921 — an unusual co-issuing arrangement that reflects the modest tax base of either village alone. Adolf Forker of Leipzig was a minor commercial printer who handled a significant volume of provincial Kleingeldscheine during this period, working to tight deadlines as municipalities scrambled to address the small-change shortage left by wartime coin hoarding.

The DeNG reference suffix "(1)" indicates a single known signature or control variant, suggesting limited administrative complexity in the issue.
