Obverse description Central vignette shows the city arms of Altenburg rendered in a stylized woodcut manner: a crenellated golden city wall with a central tower, flanked left by a red field bearing a white open hand and right by a red Tudor rose on a cream ground, with a lion shield at the base of the gate arch. The ornate border consists of dark guilloche side panels interspersed with red floral motifs, with the denomination numeral '50' in red at each upper corner and 'Pf.' in red at each lower corner. A facsimile signature reading 'Schiller / Oberbürgermeister' appears to the lower right of the vignette, and the printer's imprint runs along the bottom margin.
