Obverse description The obverse is printed in red and black on a pale ground, with the heading 'Plattdütsche Volksgill to Lübeck' in bold Gothic lettering across the top. A central circular vignette in polychrome shows a traditional Hanseatic sailing vessel on blue water, enclosed by a red and white sawtooth border. The denomination '50 Penning' appears twice in large numerals flanking the vignette, with the date 'Lübeck, 15. Oktober. 1921', serial number, and two manuscript signatures below, followed by a Low German validity clause at the foot.

Reverse description The reverse is divided into two panels. The left panel carries a colour-printed vignette in a folk-art style: a woman in a red dress holding a basket faces a man in a blue uniform who holds a stein and a shield bearing a red cross — a goose or eagle appears behind them against a rural landscape, with the artist's signature 'W. Bräck' and the printer's name 'Waisenkinder' noted in the lower margin. The right panel contains a Low German verse in bold Gothic script reading 'So seht wi ut! Wi kennt keen nige Mood, un wo wi sünd is leven in de Dood.'
