Obverse description The obverse presents a stylised townscape vignette of Schöppenstedt set within a large semicircular arch bearing the city name, flanked by radiating bands in the black, red, and gold colours of the German flag. The central church tower with its pointed spire rises above a row of red-roofed half-timbered buildings rendered in a bold Expressionist graphic style. The denomination '50 Pfennige 50' appears in large script lettering at the top, with the issuing authority inscribed along the inner arch and the validity clause printed along the lower border; the artists' names 'Günther' and 'Clausen' appear in the bottom margin.

Reverse description The reverse is centred on the polychrome municipal coat of arms of Schöppenstedt — a golden lion on a red field above a boat and wavy water bars — set against a radiating orange sunburst underprint scattered with six-pointed stars. Two columns of verse text in Gothic script flank the shield on left and right, and a dark ribbon banner below bears the town name 'SCHÖPPENSTEDT' with the Latin inscription 'UMBILICI MUNDI' flanking it, humorously proclaiming the town the 'navel of the world'. Series letters 'AI' and 'S' appear in the lower corners.
Reverse lettering die Weltenachse
ist nicht Rom,
auch nicht Paris
am Seinestrom.
Im alten Sachsen-
land die Stadt,
die so viel schlaue
Bürger hat.
Wo Wenspeigels
erster Witz,
der Unsinn lacht
aus jedem Ritz.
Ist stets, wie hier
im Bild zu lesen,
der Mittelpunkt
der Welt gewesen.
