| Obverse description | The central vignette presents a detailed view of Paulinzella Monastery rendered against a radiating sunburst background in orange and brown tones, with the large denomination numerals '50 Pf' in bold Gothic blackletter below. Flanking the central panel on both sides are full-length figures of ecclesiastical bishops in red robes, each holding a crozier and a book, set against a blue ground. Quotation text in Gothic script runs along the upper and lower borders of the note. |

| Reverse description | The reverse carries a full-width polychrome vignette of the Romanesque ruins of Paulinzella Abbey, rendered in a distinctive Expressionist-influenced graphic style, showing the interior colonnade with tall, rounded arches and grouped columns rising against a yellow background with foliage visible to the left. The artist's name 'Körshau' appears in the upper right corner of the vignette. A yellow banner along the lower edge bears the denomination '50' in red at each side flanking the issuer inscription in Gothic blackletter, with the printer's imprint below the frame. |
