| Obverse description | Central vignette reproduces a woodcut portrait of Martin Luther after Hans Weiditz (1520), rendered in fine letterpress line engraving, within a plain rectangular frame with the caption 'Martin Luther n.e. Stich v. Hans Weiditz, 1520' below. The denomination '50 Pf.' appears in bold Gothic type at lower left and right flanking the central legend 'Ausgegeben Invocavit 1922' and the series letter 'U'. A decorative purple border with Gothic text runs along all four margins, and a small ornamental guilloche motif is printed at the lower corners. |
