Obverse description The upper half of the note is occupied by a central colour vignette in Expressionist woodcut style, showing a country manor house with a red-tiled roof set within a wooded landscape; the surrounding border field is rendered in stippled khaki-brown with vertical columns of terracotta-red geometric ornament flanking either side. The large denomination numeral '50' appears in dark ink at centre below the vignette, with the issue text and validity clause disposed to either side. A manuscript signature of the issuing officer is placed at the lower right.
Obverse lettering Dieser Schein verliert seine Gültigkeit am 1. April 1922

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a bold Expressionist graphic vignette of a multi-storey civic building, its courtyard façade centred on an octagonal lantern tower and flanked on the left by a dark conifer tree; caryatid-style pillar figures, each bearing a shield, frame the composition at the left and right margins. A decorative title band across the lower register carries the denomination and place name in bold block lettering, with the designer's name 'Stöckel' at lower left and the printing city 'Hannover' at lower right.
