| Obverse description | Central field bears the quartered municipal coat of arms of Kempen, divided by a cross into four quadrants: upper left displaying an eagle, upper right a crescent, lower left and lower right quarters differing between the two varieties (smooth versus square in the Probe). The shield is rendered in relief against the flat field. The circular legend STADT KEMPEN - RHEIN arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 50 PFG. is inscribed below the shield in large raised numerals and lettering, with a six-pointed star ornament at the very bottom of the field. |
