Comments

Hannöverische Stiftungen was a charitable foundation operating in Fränkisch-Crumbach, a small village in the Odenwald. This 50 Pfennig note belongs to the vast wave of German Notgeld issued during the hyperinflationary spiral of the early 1920s, when municipal and institutional issuers flooded the market with small-denomination emergency scrip to compensate for a chronic shortage of official coinage. Carlos Tips, a Frankfurt-based printer and designer, both designed and produced this piece — an arrangement common among smaller Notgeld issuers who lacked the connections or budget to commission work separately.
