Obverse description Central vignette reproduces a photographic-style scene captioned 'Die Thüringer nehmen Abschied vom sterbenden Kaiser' (The Thuringians bid farewell to the dying Emperor), showing a gathering of medieval figures in period costume around a dying ruler. The denomination '50' appears in yellow at both upper corners within the ornate letterpress border of interlocking geometric and floral guilloche bands, with the town name 'Bad-Blankenburg Thür.Wald' inscribed in Gothic script across the upper panel. The lower register carries the issue text in large Fraktur lettering, the date 'Bad Blankenburg, den 23.7.21', a serial number, a circular validity overprint stamp, and the facsimile signature of Dr. jur. E. Moenich for Der Stadtrat.

Reverse description Central polychrome vignette in yellow, green, and grey depicts a mounted armoured knight on a white horse, holding a lance with a pennant, rendered in a bold Art Nouveau graphic style; Burg Greifenstein castle is illustrated in the upper background against a yellow sky with the identifying caption above. Denomination numerals '50' enclosed in oval cartouches appear at left and right within broad dark ornamental side panels of radiating lance and starburst guilloche patterns. The reverse carries no issuer text, relying entirely on the heraldic imagery of Kaiser Günther's ancestral seat.
