At centre, a large heraldic shield vignette combines the Danish cross (white on red) with the Schleswig colours (blue, white, red horizontal bands), surmounted by the denomination '50 Pf.' in red script; within the shield a white cartouche carries the motto 'ARBEITEN UND NICHT VERZWEIFELN' in black letterpress.
