Obverse description Central field features the municipal coat of arms of Gerolzhofen, displaying a divided shield with horizontal lines in the upper portion and three pointed battlements in the lower portion, surmounted by a mural crown with multiple towers. The shield is framed by decorative scroll-work supporters on either side. The circular legend STADTGEMEINDE GEROLZHOFEN runs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering. The coin is bordered by a continuous ring of raised beading.

Reverse description The reverse bears the inscription KRIEGSGELD (war money) arranged in a bold arc across the upper field, with the denomination 50 centered below, flanked by two six-pointed stars. The date 1917 appears in large numerals along the lower portion of the field. The overall design is plain and utilitarian, consistent with wartime notgeld emergency coinage, and is bordered by a ring of raised beading matching the obverse.
