Comments

Eifelverein is a hiking and conservation association founded in 1888, still active today — its local branches issued notgeld during the 1920–1921 inflation wave not as emergency currency in any strict sense, but as collectible scrip that generated revenue for club activities. The Speicher Ortsgruppe was one of dozens of chapters that participated in this essentially commercial scheme. Lütckens in Cologne handled a significant volume of regional notgeld production during this period, and their output for small civic bodies like this was straightforward job printing rather than prestige work.

Speicher is a small town in the Eifel plateau, Rhineland-Palatinate.
