Reverse description A finely detailed right-facing bust of Johann Joseph Görres (1776–1848), the prominent German Catholic writer and publicist, rendered in high relief with naturalistic modelling of his long wavy hair and period collar and coat. The legend 'GÖRRES' is inscribed vertically along the left field in bold upright letters. The portrait fills most of the coin's field, conveying a strong, dignified character study in the tradition of German medallic art.
