| Obverse description | The obverse, designed by Heinz Schiestl, carries a central vignette of the Xanten Cathedral (St. Viktor Dom) rendered in fine multicolour letterpress. To the left stands a haloed figure of Saint Victor in armour with a blue cross on a gold shield, and to the right Saint Helena with a halo, both set against ornate gold medallion frames. The denomination 'FÜNFZIG' and 'PFENNIG' appear in bold red Gothic lettering at the lower left and right corners respectively, with the date 'Xanten, 1. Okt. 1921' and issuing authority text centred below the cathedral vignette. |
