Wettin, the small Saxon town on the Saale River that gave the ruling dynasty its name, issued emergency Kleingeld during the notgeld period when fractional coinage had essentially vanished from circulation. These municipal scrip issues were administrative necessities — printed quickly, spent quickly, and rarely preserved. The Magistrat had no particular incentive to commission fine printing, and most Wettin notgeld reflects exactly that urgency.
Survival rate is low not from wartime destruction but from the simple indifference that followed redemption.
