Naugard — now Nowogard in northwestern Poland — issued this Notgeld through its municipal savings bank during the inflationary chaos that followed the First World War. Flemming & Wiskott in Glogau were prolific producers of small-denomination emergency currency across Pomerania and Silesia, and their output for minor municipalities like Naugard was typically produced in numbered series with minor design variants, which accounts for the granular sub-classification in the reference number.
W.H. Lippert's involvement as designer is the one distinguishing detail here — Flemming & Wiskott occasionally brought in named artists rather than relying on house illustrators, which lifted some of these otherwise forgettable municipal issues above the purely utilitarian.
