| Obverse description | Blue letterpress on cream paper with an allover trefoil-pattern underprint. The upper portion bears the issuer inscription "Residenzstadt Cassel" flanked by the denomination numeral "50" in ornate Gothic script at each corner, with a red serial number printed at top right. Below, the large Fraktur legend "Fünfzig Pfennig" dominates the centre within a decorative ruled border, beneath which a circular embossed dry seal of the city arms is applied to the lower left, accompanied by two diagonal-barred heraldic shield vignettes at each lower corner. A two-line redemption clause and the authority line "Magistrat der Residenz:" appear in italic script above a handwritten countersignature. |
