| Obverse description | Cream-toned note with a teal geometric border frame enclosing the central vignette of the municipal coat of arms: a stepped shield charged with a rampant white horse on a green ground, inscribed 'ROSSBACH / KREIS / QUERFURT' below and 'GEMEINDE' above, flanked by crossed keys at the base. To the left, a vignette of mining tools — crossed hammers, gears, and oak leaves — alludes to local industry, while an agricultural vignette to the right shows a scythe, rake, and wheat sheaf against a flame-like yellow underprint. The denomination '50 Pf.' appears in bold letterpress at upper left and right, with the heading 'NOTGELD DER GEMEINDE ROSSBACH' across the top; the facsimile signature of the Gemeindevorsteher appears at lower right, with the printer's imprint 'GERTH & OPPENRIEDER GERA' at the foot. |

Roßbach was a small village in Kreis Querfurt, in what is now Saxony-Anhalt, and like hundreds of similar rural communes it issued Notgeld during the inflation period when central coinage simply vanished from circulation. Hofdruckerei Gerth & Oppenrieder in Gera handled a substantial volume of small-municipality emergency issues, and the designer credit to C. Jacob is unusually specific for a Gemeinde-level note — most local councils accepted whatever stock artwork the printer offered.
The DeNG reference covering five to six variants (1135.1-5/6) suggests the commune issued across multiple series or dates, which was common as shortages persisted longer than initially anticipated.
