Mirow is a small town in Mecklenburg, and like hundreds of German municipalities in the early 1920s, it issued its own Notgeld as the central government struggled to keep fractional coinage in circulation during the inflationary spiral following World War I. The Stadt Mirow series is catalogued as a three-note set under DeNG 0889, all dated 1922 — the last year such municipal emergency issues remained broadly practical before hyperinflation rendered small-denomination paper worthless within months.
This is the third note of that set. Mirow Notgeld is not among the rarer municipal issues, but complete three-note runs in unbroken sets are harder to find than individual pieces.
