| Reverse description | The reverse is laid out in two principal panels on a cream ground with a fine ruled border. The broad central panel carries a detailed pen-and-ink style architectural vignette of the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) and Marktplatz as they appeared between 1455 and 1901, with the market fountain visible to the left and the corner of the Herrenhaus — demolished in 1821 — to the right. The left panel contains a descriptive caption in Gothic blackletter script identifying the scene and its historical elements, while a narrow right border panel bears additional vertical text. |
