Obverse description Olive-brown notgeld note with the heading in Gothic blackletter script reading 'Württembergische Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart' at top, flanked by large numeral '50' denominators on either side of a central vignette of the rearing black Württemberg horse on a yellow oval cartouche with ornamental scrollwork surround. Below, the denomination 'Fünfzig Pfennig' is rendered in large Gothic script, followed by the payment obligation text, the date 'Stuttgart, den 21. April 1921', and the signature of the Oberbürgermeister; validity and counterfeit-warning inscriptions appear in the lower lateral margins, with a stamped municipal seal at lower left and series letter 'A' at lower right.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a finely detailed letterpress vignette of the Stuttgart cityscape identified by the caption 'Stuttgart — Altes Schloß und Stiftskirche', rendered in sepia-brown tones with the Altes Schloss complex in the middle ground and the towers of the Stiftskirche rising prominently to the right against a lightly hatched sky. The denomination '50 Pfennig' is set in large bold type at the lower right corner, serving as the sole typographic element on this otherwise pictorial face.
