Mülsen-Sankt Jakob was one of dozens of Saxon municipalities that issued emergency Kleingeld during the acute coin shortage of 1921 — a shortage driven by hyperinflationary pressures that made metal coinage economically impractical to mint at face value. The Rats-Druckerei R. Dulce in Glauchau handled a considerable volume of this local Notgeld work for smaller Erzgebirge and Zwickau-region communities that lacked access to larger printing houses.
Dulce's output for rural Saxon clients tends toward simple typography over decorative ambition. Worth noting for collectors tracking Glauchau-printed issues rather than for any particular rarity.
