Comments

Roßla is a small town in the southern Harz region, and like hundreds of German municipalities in 1921, it issued Notgeld to address the chronic small-change shortage that followed the First World War. The Ratsdruckerei R. Dulce in Glauchau — a municipal printing operation in Saxony — handled the production of numerous local emergency issues during this period, running off notes for communities well outside its own district.

Georg Schleinitz's involvement as designer is the one detail that lifts this above the purely functional. Whether commissioned locally or through Dulce's network is not documented.
