Kalbsrieth is a village in the Kyffhäuserland district of Thuringia — a genuinely small settlement, which makes its issuance of notgeld a reminder of just how far down the administrative hierarchy emergency currency penetrated during the 1921 coin shortage. Adolf Forker in Leipzig handled a substantial volume of municipal notgeld commissions during this period, producing notes for dozens of small Saxon and Thuringian communities, which means the printing quality here is competent but the plate work is unlikely to be unique to this issuer.
