Obverse description Black and green letterpress Notgeld note with a wide floral border of pink blossoms and foliage in Art Nouveau style enclosing a central landscape vignette. The vignette renders, in a woodcut-like technique, a rural manor house with a stone bridge in the foreground and large trees to the right, recalling the Rittergut Kalbsrieth. Denomination numeral '50' appears in each lower corner and the upper left corner, with the legend 'Erinnerungsschein' at upper right and 'Rätselschein' at lower left; explanatory text in Gothic script runs along the left margin and above and below the central scene, referencing the destruction of the castle by Obrist von Pretlag during the Thirty Years' War.

Reverse description Rose-pink ground with a bold rectangular black frame enclosing a central oval medallion, gold-bordered, set against a dark background. Within the oval, a stark white silhouette of a seated female figure — representing a nun — is struck by a lightning bolt rendered in white, alluding to the dialect verse printed above and below. Decorative foliage and bird motifs occupy the four corners of the inner frame; two stanzas of humorous Thuringian dialect verse in Gothic script are printed above and below the central oval.
