| Obverse description | The upper portion carries a bold letterpress heading reading 'NOTGELDSCHEIN / PFAFFENDORF-COBLENZ' within a ruled border. At centre, a heraldic shield bearing the combined arms of Koblenz — a red cross on white and a papal key on black — is flanked on each side by decorative vignettes of grapevines with fruit clusters rendered in green and brown. Below, the denomination '50 Pfg' is set in large stylised numerals over a vertically lined underprint, with a text panel at lower centre stating the validity clause dated 5 November 1921, accompanied by the manuscript signature of the Gemeindevorsteher; a Prussian eagle vignette appears at lower left and a second small municipal shield at lower right. |

| Reverse description | The reverse carries a detailed topographic map vignette of the Koblenz region rendered in olive and grey tones, with the rivers Rhein, Mosel, Lahn and localities including Pfaffendorf, Coblenz, Horchheim and Ehrenbreitstein legibly labelled. Superimposed at centre is a large vignette of two clasped hands — symbolising the fraternal union of Pfaffendorf with Koblenz — drawn in a realistic graphic style. A two-line quotation from Friedrich Schiller's Wilhelm Tell is inscribed along the top margin. |

Pfaffendorf was a separate municipality on the right bank of the Rhine, directly opposite Koblenz, until its incorporation into the city in 1937. This note belongs to the enormous wave of German municipal Kleingeldersatz issued in 1920–1921, when a chronic shortage of small coinage forced thousands of towns and villages to print their own emergency fractional currency. Schaar & Dathe in Trier were prolific suppliers to the Rhineland notgeld market during this period, handling output for dozens of issuers simultaneously.
The DeNG reference splits this as 1/2#1057.1-1/2, indicating two distinct varieties in the series.
