Nördlingen's Notgeld issues of 1920 sit within a period when German municipal authorities were effectively forced into emergency currency production — the Reichsbank couldn't supply sufficient small-denomination coinage, and towns across Bavaria printed their own stop-gaps. Nördlingen, sitting inside one of the best-preserved meteorite craters in the world, was a minor printing center in its own right, which likely made local production practical rather than exceptional.

The DeNG reference places this as part of a multi-variety series (suffix .14-3/4 suggests sequential design or date variants within the same denomination run). Collector interest in Bavarian municipal Notgeld tends to cluster around complete series rather than individual notes.
