| Obverse description | The obverse is printed in red, dark brown, and gold tones on a cream ground with an ornate scrollwork underprint. A central octagonal vignette, framed by an elaborate cartouche with acanthus-leaf ornaments, presents a view of a medieval town gate tower with adjoining half-timbered buildings and a figure passing through the archway.
