Obverse description The obverse is printed in red, dark brown, and gold tones on a cream ground with an ornate scrollwork underprint. A central octagonal vignette, framed by an elaborate cartouche with acanthus-leaf ornaments, presents a view of a medieval town gate tower with adjoining half-timbered buildings and a figure passing through the archway. The denomination '50' appears in large numerals within dark rectangular panels to the left and right, each headed by the word 'FÜNFZIG' and footed by 'PFENNIG', while the issuer name 'Stadt Lichtenfels' is set in bold red Gothic lettering across the upper field; the date 'Lichtenfels, 23. Febr 1920' and the authority 'Stadtrat' appear in red script at lower left and lower right respectively, with the designer's name 'Heinz Schiestl' and printer's imprint below the central vignette.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in dark blue, gold, red, and green on a cream ground. The central field carries the Lichtenfels civic coat of arms — a heraldic shield on a teal ground showing two candlesticks flanking a rocky formation — set within a large circular medallion surmounted by a mural crown and flanked by the curved inscription 'Stadt Lichtenfels'. Decorative side panels to the left and right each contain a wicker basket overflowing with flowers rendered in golden tones. The denomination '50 Pfennig' and a serial number appear in the upper border strip, and the validity clause 'Gültig bis zur Einlösung.' is printed in bold Gothic lettering across the lower border.
