Stellingen-Langenfelde was an independent municipality northwest of Hamburg until its forced incorporation into the city in 1927 — one of thousands of German communities that issued their own emergency paper currency during the Notgeld period following the First World War. The local printer C. Schönfeldt handled this series in-house, which was common for small-town issues and accounts for the relatively modest production quality typical of hyperinflation-era municipal scrip.
The GrM reference places this within Grabowski and Mehl's Notgeld cataloging system. Four variants are known under 1265.1-1/4, distinguished by serial or color differences.
