| Obverse description | Green letterpress Notgeld on grey paper, the central vignette comprising a large oval guilloche underprint bearing the bold Gothic-script denomination '50 Pfennig' in black ink. The title 'Gutschein der Stadt Gera' is set in ornate Fraktur type above the denomination, flanked by four circular guilloche medallions each containing the numeral '50'. A serial number printed in red appears at the top, with the issuing authority line 'Der Oberbürgermeister' below the central vignette followed by a manuscript signature, and the issuance text 'Ausgegeben im Jahre 1920.' at the foot; a blind embossed municipal seal is visible at the lower right. |
