Additional information

Cuba's large-format silver wildlife series of the 1990s was produced almost entirely for export — hard currency generation, not domestic circulation. The Empresa Cubana de Acuñaciones operated under the same economic logic that drove Havana to mint coins in foreign facilities and sell them to international collectors while Cuban citizens used pesos worth a fraction of their nominal value. The yellow perch itself is not native to Cuba, which suggests the series was designed with North American collector markets specifically in mind.
