Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicted as a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion shows a golden key between two landmasses and open sea, the lower-left quarter bears diagonal blue and white stripes representing the original Cuban provinces, and the lower-right quarter displays a royal palm tree. A Phrygian cap surmounting a fasces appears above the shield, flanked by an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right, both bound at the base. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, with 5 OZ to the lower left and AG 0.999 to the lower right; the denomination 50 PESOS appears prominently across the lower field. The entire design is enclosed within a rope-style border.
