Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring the traditional shield with key, rising sun, and royal palm, flanked by an oak and laurel branch. The curved legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the face value 50 PESOS appears in the lower field. The weight designation 1/2 OZ and fineness AU 0.999 are positioned on either side of the arms. A rope or cable border design runs parallel to and just inside the coin's outer edge.
