Obverse description The coat of arms of Uruguay, featuring a radiant sun rising above a quartered shield, is centrally displayed within a wreath of laurel branches. The national legend REPÚBLICA ORIENTAL DEL URUGUAY arcs around the periphery, with the date 1968 and the Santiago mint mark (So) incorporated into the lower legend.

Reverse description The large numeral '50' dominates the left and center of the field, with the denomination legend PESOS inscribed below in bold capital letters. Two upright stalks of wheat rise along the right side of the field, their heads gracefully arching inward toward the center, with a curved stem element at the base.
